When the body finally asks you to slow down & listen

There’s a moment many of us reach on the healing journey where we realize we’ve been everywhere but here. We’ve read the books, done the courses, tried the protocols – but we haven’t sat down inside our own bodies and asked, what are you holding? What have you been trying to tell me this whole time?

I’ve been in that place more times than I can count.

For years, I moved through my healing like it was a problem to solve – something to fix, optimize, push through. And my body kept sending signals. Hormone imbalances. Fatigue. That ungroundedness that would come through my field, especially during certain phases of my cycle. I’d notice it, try to manage it, and keep going.

But lately, something has been shifting.

I’ve started to see the rhythmic patterns – noticing when things get difficult and why. Looking for those patterned experiences instead of fighting them. And what I keep coming back to is this: my womb has been holding so much. Grief I haven’t fully felt. Rage I haven’t fully expressed. Layers of my own story – and maybe the stories of women before me – waiting to be witnessed.

That’s exactly what this week’s conversation is about.

I’m joined by Patricia Ode – an Alternative and Ancient Medicine Practitioner. Her work weaves ancient wisdom with deep body-based healing to help women come home to themselves, their wombs, and the truth their bodies have been holding.

Patricia and I dropped into an illuminating conversation about what womb work actually is (and why it applies to every woman, no exceptions), how chronic illness and autoimmune conditions are often the body’s way of asking us to finally listen, and what it means to build safety inside your own body as the foundation for everything else.

The womb holds everything

One of the first things Patricia said that struck me was this: womb work is the foundation of every single healing thing that we do. It’s the root of all biohacking.

She shared how she spent years on her own healing path – changing her diet, reversing autoimmune conditions, building businesses – before she finally landed in womb work. And when she did, she thought… why didn’t we start here?

It made so much sense to me.

Because if the womb is the source of creation – where lineage runs, where we connect to the earth, where all of our million dollar ideas come through… then of course it would be the place where our deepest healing lives too.

Patricia was clear: if you have a womb, this work applies to you. There is no exception. Because even if you haven’t experienced sexual trauma in your own lifetime, you come from a lineage that carried you. And that lineage carried its own stories, its own pain, its own unprocessed grief.

Safe in my body

There was a moment in our conversation that I have to share with you…

Patricia was in psychotherapy training, and they guided everyone through a visualization of a safe environment. And the only thing she could see… was her own body. The shape of it. The inside of it.

She said, “Ultimately, no matter where you place me on this earth, I’m going to be safe – because I’m safe in my body.”

That hit me deeply.

Because for so many of us, our body has never felt like a safe place. It’s been the place where trauma lives, where pain shows up, where we feel out of control. And the invitation of womb work – as Patricia describes it, is to come back inside. To create safety there. To stop running from the very vessel that’s trying to heal us.

Slowing down as the greatest lesson

We also talked about what it means to build a life and business from that place of internal safety – instead of from hustle, urgency, or survival.

Patricia shared that slowing down has been the greatest lesson of her journey. She said we have to be willing to let the hustle go… even if it means making nothing for a period of time, so we can build ourselves back up from a foundation of safety and regulation.

That landed for me in a big way.

I’ve been in my own season of slowing down. Letting old identities fall away. Asking myself what I’m actually willing to sacrifice – and what I’m not. And what I keep coming back to is this: what if whatever’s happening inside me is more important than the empire I thought I was supposed to build?

That question has been changing everything.

Where to begin

At the end of our conversation, I asked Patricia what she’d say to someone who feels called to this work but doesn’t know where to start.

Her answer was simple: get very real with yourself. Stop needing validation from the people around you. And ask yourself – what’s the one thing I can’t stop thinking about?

Start there. Trust the process.

This episode is now live, and I can’t wait for you to tune in. It’s the kind of conversation that asks you to slow down and feel – and I think that’s exactly what so many of us need right now. Click below to listen.
