If you’ve been pushing past your limits and wondering why abundance still feels hard to hold, this might be the missing piece.
Something Shifted This Week
Something came through really clearly for me this week during a session with a client.
We were exploring this study together – how often we move through our days completely unaware of our own capacity. Like, genuinely not even registering where our limits are until we’ve already blown past them.
And it landed on this concept that I think is so important, especially for those of us on the path of creating more wealth, freedom, time, and energy in our lives…
Your window of tolerance.
What Is the Window of Tolerance?
This is the range your nervous system can operate within – the space between how much you can healthily push yourself and how deeply you can settle into rest.
And for a lot of us who are carrying complex trauma or living with dysregulated nervous systems, we’ve been existing outside of that window for so long that we don’t even recognize it anymore.
We exhaust ourselves to perform. We over-give. We people-please. And somehow we end up completely depleted without ever having noticed the moment we crossed that line.
And it works on the other side too. The fatigue that seems to arrive from nowhere. The sadness. The disassociation. The seasons where everything just feels heavy or muted. These are signs we’ve dropped below our window – often without any awareness that it’s happening.
Both directions pull us out of ourselves. And both have a direct impact on what we’re able to create and receive.
Why This Matters for Wealth and Abundance
And when we’re trying to call in more abundance, more prosperity, more of anything… this window is where it starts. Because we can only receive what our system has the capacity to hold.
When we’re at the beginning of our healing journey, our window of tolerance can feel really small. Everything is overwhelming. Functioning in the day-to-day feels hard. And that’s not a personal failing – that’s just where the window is.
The work isn’t to force yourself past it. The work is to first acknowledge where it actually is.
Because here’s what most people skip over when they talk about wealth consciousness… it’s not just about mindset or belief systems. It’s about how much your nervous system can hold. And if your system is depleted, contracted, or running on survival patterns… it doesn’t matter how many affirmations you repeat or how hard you hustle. Your body will only allow in what it feels resourced enough to handle.
That’s why this awareness changes everything.
Your Window Isn’t Fixed
Your window of tolerance shifts. It changes with your environment, your circumstances, your hormones, your season of life.
Right now, I’m with my family. There’s a lot of people around me, a lot of interaction and exchange and communication.
I can feel my window is smaller than usual. So I’m taking on fewer work tasks. I’m making sure I get more one-on-one time with myself. I’m sleeping more. I’m just honoring what’s true for me right now and letting that be enough.
And I’m not making that mean anything is wrong.
This is one of the biggest shifts I think we can make – understanding that a smaller window in a particular season doesn’t mean we’re broken or falling behind. It means our circumstances are asking something different of us right now. And the most powerful thing we can do is listen.
Compassion in the Smaller Window Seasons
In a smaller window season, sometimes honoring yourself looks like eating the fried food or the sugary thing because you enjoy it. Sleeping in. Pulling back. Meeting yourself with compassion instead of criticism.
It looks like releasing the guilt around not being at your most “productive” and trusting that your body knows what it needs given the circumstances – whether that’s hormonal fluctuations, a demanding environment, or simply a season that requires more rest.
This isn’t giving up. This is self-awareness. And self-awareness is the foundation that everything else gets built on.
When Expansion Feels Available
And then in other seasons – when you’re home, grounded in your flow, in a safe space to stretch – that’s where expansion lives.
That’s where you start asking the deeper questions…
Do I need morning practices? Evening rituals to ground my energy and reset my space? A more organized calendar? Shifts in how I’m nourishing myself so I can hold a greater capacity?
What do I need to develop my self-resourcedness?
This is the active, intentional side of working with your window. When you feel safe and supported enough to stretch, you begin building the rituals, structures, and habits that genuinely expand what you can hold. Not from pressure… but from a grounded, resourced place.
And this is where it gets really beautiful. Because as your window of tolerance expands through this kind of intentional care, so does your capacity to receive. More wealth. More opportunity. More freedom. More joy. Your external world starts to reflect the internal space you’ve created.
Where Wealth Consciousness Actually Begins
And I’ve found, this is where wealth consciousness actually begins. Not in pushing harder. Not in performing our way to abundance. But in resourcing yourself so intentionally that what you can hold just naturally grows.
It’s the willingness to be honest about where your window is right now… to meet that truth with compassion rather than frustration… and to trust that honoring your current capacity is the very thing that will expand it over time.
What do I actually need in this season?
Start there. Answer honestly. And watch what opens.
Honoring Your Body’s Signals
Start noticing when you’ve moved outside your window. The jaw tension, the shallow breath, the wired-but-exhausted feeling – those are your body’s signals that you’ve pushed past your capacity. And on the other side, the heaviness, the fog, the numbness.
This week, just notice. Awareness is the first step to honoring what you need.
Asking the Right Question
Practice asking yourself honestly: what season am I in right now – and what does that season require of me?
Some seasons ask for expansion. Others ask for rest. Neither is better or worse. Both deserve your full compassion.
Letting Your Capacity Lead Your Business
How much wealth you can hold is directly connected to how resourced your nervous system is. Before you strategize your next big move, get honest about your window. Are you building from a grounded, resourced place – or are you pushing past what your body is actually available for?
Let your self-care be the foundation your business grows from.
